The causes of your diseases and conditions, they present will determine the frequency and type of treatments you receive from your doctor. The reasons will determine the severity and appropriate treatment plan suited to relieve the pain, among other symptoms that you feel. This is especially true for conditions that neck pain. Although this condition may seem to disappear after time, it is always important to understand why you have these pains.

Here are some of the commonest causes of this particular type of pain: – activities that you often do, and overall lifestyle: Sometimes the things you do normally, or repeatedly causing neck pain, especially if these activities promote poor posture. For example, when you have a job that causes you to be idle for hours as the front of the computer, you can develop a routine bad posture can cause neck pain. You can also have these pains in your neck when you accidentally or often sleeping the wrong way as if you’re sleeping in an awkward position or you have a pillow that is too stiff or too big for you.

Moreover, these also be caused by obesity, and weak muscles in the abdomen can provide you with neck pain, too. – Age-related problems: One of the most common problems people face old age, their bones and body parts degenerate as they grow older. Old age can also cause neck pain, because it can be a symptom of an underlying disease that mostly people of old, acquire.

Examples of these conditions are spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and bulging discs. These conditions cause a tapping on the nerve roots that causes pain in the neck. – Accidents and Injuries: Neck pain can also be caused by trauma, you get from accidents and damage you experience.

For example, when when you experience whiplash or abrupt and forced relocation of your head and neck you meet an accident. This sudden assault on the neck causing damage to tissues surrounding the area hence the pain on your neck. – Chronic diseases: Neck pain can also be caused by chronic conditions, especially if you find that your neck pain is prolonged or recurrent.

Conditions such as spinal infections, compression, a tumor or a fracture can cause these pains. Remember that you should not feel pain in any part of your body. Pain is a sign that press release writing something is wrong, then you should consult a doctor immediately if you feel prolonged and excruciating pain in the neck.

Josephine had severe neck and upper back pain. She couldn’t do work around the house and became very depressed. Her pain level was a 9 out of 10 and now it is a 4. As a result of the laser treatment, she is more active around the house, no longer depressed and a lot happier! This 2011 holiday season will be a very Happy One!

TMJReview.com http Causes of TMJ Causes of TMJ are many. There are primary or main factors and there are not so main factors that cause TMJ. I wanted to say secondary in there, but as you will see, it’s difficult to categorize them here…Here they are. Tooth Grinding: Of the many causes, Tooth Grinding is the main, biggest, and most common Cause of TMJ. But hold on a moment…What causes Tooth Grinding? Nutrition: Occasionally, it’s a nutritional factor such as partaking (eating or drinking) too much caffeine and/or Nutrasweet. Any one of the Headache trigger foods identified by the National Headache Foundation can cause TMJ. Bad Bites: Bad bites is one of the common causes of TMJ jaw pain. I probably make recommendations to correct my patients’ bite about 20-25 percent of the time. Stress: Stress is the number one cause of TMJ Symptoms. That stress causes tension in the head/jaw muscles and clenching. Trauma: If a person has had any whiplash event or accident, that can contribute to TMJ symptoms. TMJ Braces or Recent Dental Work: I dared to say it, but it is possible. Yes, I have treated patients with TMJ symptoms that were caused by sitting in the Dental chair. Exercise: Mostly it is due to a “Lack of exercise” that can bring on TMJ problems. Medical problems: The most common medical problem that can cause TMJ pain is neck and back problems. Also, the shoulder problem can contribute as well. More information. Visit: tmjreviews.com

Lower back and neck pain are certainly typical ailments and the hunt for alternative remedies has steadily grown since we discover the unwished-for results of prescription drugs, like acetaminophen. Natural herbs are one means you’ll be able to choose to assist in countering and alleviating neck and lower back pain.

As stated by the National Pain Foundation, some back and neck nuisance might possibly be induced by inside organs which aren’t even near the backbone or spine. In case you go through consistent or serious ache, get in touch with your doctor or a neurologist to help you locate exactly the reason for the trouble. And even if numerous pure substances obtained from plant sources are regarded as safe, several might have uncomfortable side effects on your body. When thinking about using natural herbs for lower back and neck pain, explore premier health websites to examine potential medicine interactions and precautionary measures.

Lower back pain can be brought forth by exerting too much pressure on the muscle tissues of the posterior part. This takes place when the muscle is torn or excessively elongated owing to straining physical work like lifting or abrupt motion. Quite often, the soreness is confined within a specific region. One more potential reason for lower back pain is actually a herniated disc.

The back comprises discs known as herniates. Herniates feature a tender, interior core which can at times get out due to harm. In case this occurs, force is exercised on the spinal nerve and causes nuisance and a tickling feeling that can be experienced up to the legs completely. Cracks or a late time of life can also have an effect upon the joints that bind the vertebrae in the back. When the vertebrae slide against one another, nerves can be squeezed tightly and cause lower backache.

Neck nuisance is a consequence of disorders with the nerves, connective tissues, muscles, bones, articulations or spinal column. The most widespread causes include physical damage or deterioration on any of these vital constituents, whilst more uncommon causes consist of tumors or contagions.

The most usual reason for neck ache is harm to the muscles and ligaments or connective tissues. Any hasty turning or jerking like that gone through in vehicle hits, sports injury or a collapse can cause nuisance.

Diseases characterized by inflammation such as degenerative joint disease and rheumatism can bear upon the neck by generating rheumatic bone spurs or joint wear and tear, which brings on more marked, continuing nuisance.

As individuals grow older, the discs located in the neck are vulnerable to deterioration, which can lead to disc degeneration. This places strain on the backbone and can bring forth unrelenting neck pain. Other more exceptional reasons for nuisance comprise tumors, contagions, inherited disorders and medical problems, for example myelopathy and stricture.

Article by Collin

Have you ever add the feel like your head is a big construction site where some one is using a jack hammer in the back of your neck just chipping away at any sense of peace of mind that you might have left? and then its like some one else inside your head buzzing away with a power drill trying to break your head wide open?

If you had any thing like that then you are probably just like I was before i put a stop to the construction work that was constantly under way some it even seems like it would just go on for ever none stop well i just couldn’t take it any more because the regular over the counter headache medication just couldn’t help me.

I went on a desperate search trying to find a solution and what i found out was Just about everyone in the world has had at least one headache. Some people rarely get them, while others have them almost every day like I did. Often we pay little attention to them, and the headache is soon gone, but sometimes headaches become so painful or so frequent that we start to worry that it might be something more serious medical issue.

In my quest I found out that A headache is a pain sensed in the nerves and muscles of the head and neck, as well as the meninges (the membranous coverings of the brain and spinal cord). Your brain itself cannot sense pain, so a headache has nothing to do with your brain hurting. It is really a pain somewhere around your brain, being picked up by nerve endings located in your head.

This simply mean that it is fixable but only if you learn the natural proven ways of how to eliminate these constant pounding or buzzing that keeps rearing its ugly head and steals the life out of your day.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Headaches are one of the most common medical complaints — nearly everyone gets a headache at some point. Over 45 million Americans (about one in six) suffer chronic headaches each year. Headaches therefore have a big economic impact — when you have a throbbing pain in your head, it’s hard to work. The cost of these headaches in absenteeism and medical expenses is estimated as high as billion per year.

It is reported that in developed countries, Tension Type Headache (TTH) alone affects two-thirds of adult males and over 80% of females. Extrapolation from figures for migraine prevalence and attack incidence suggests that 3000 migraine attacks occur every day for each million of the general population. Less well recognized is the toll of chronic daily headache: up to one adult in 20 has a headache every or nearly every day.

Not only is headache painful, but headache disorders are also disabling. Worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), migraine alone is 19th among all causes of years lived with disability (YLDs). Headache disorders impose recognizable burden on sufferers including sometimes substantial personal suffering, impaired quality of life and financial cost. Repeated headache attacks, and often the constant fear of the next one, damage family life, social life and employment. For example, social activity and work capacity are reduced in almost all migraine sufferers and in 60% of TTH sufferers.

There are two main reasons why people get headaches, and medical professionals therefore classify headaches into two broad categories: primary and secondary.

Primary headaches are not associated with any underlying medical condition. But Secondary headaches are associated with medical conditions like infections, fever, head injury, hypoglycemia, tumors, dental conditions or increased pressure in the skull and/or sinuses (sinus headaches).

A careful study would show that there are three main causes for primary headaches.

Headaches itself is a painful and often disabling conditions that often steals the joy out of a beautiful day, stalls progress and even kills the romance in a wonderful relationship trust me I know.

The good news about headaches is that the majority of them are completely harmless. However, every once in a while a headache is a warning of something serious, so how can you tell the difference?

Well I have discover some thing that as work for me and people that I have come in contact with that as used this all natural, step-by-step guide to eradicate headaches effectively.

I am not going to pretend to be a medical professional but if this work for me i know it can help some people like my self who as not suffered as much as I did it got rid of the construction site and gave me a chance to enjoy my days with my family and the great part is every is now happy that they don’t have to be tip toeing around the house like they are walking on egg shells any more.

Neck pain can be caused by a number of factors, including muscle strain, ligament sprains, arthritis, or a “pinched” nerve. Neck pain most successfully treated by KT Taping techniques include Cervical Strain, and Cervical Myofascial pain. Cervical strain Cervical muscle strain can occur when there is an injury to the muscles of the neck, causing spasm of the cervical and upper back muscles. Cervical strain may result from the physical stresses of everyday life, including poor posture, muscle tension from psychologic stress or poor sleeping habits. Typically, symptoms include pain, stiffness, and tightness in the upper back or shoulder, which may last for up to six weeks. Cervical Myofascial Pain Myofascial pain causes tight and tender areas of muscle that are sensitive to pressure. Myofascial pain in the neck can develop after trauma or with other medical conditions, such as psychologic stress, depression, or insomnia. KT Tape alleviates pain by providing support and increased circulation around the affected area allowing for a rapid recovery. Generally individuals will feel immediate support and pain relief upon taping.

The best place to start in managing your neck pain is to determine the root of your pain. Even though it won’t make your neck stop hurting to find out why it is hurting, it’s the first step to recovery because you won’t do that (whatever caused it) again. For example, if you have slept in the wrong position, you can adjust how you sleep the next night so that you don’t have to deal with it.

One of the most usual causes of neck pain is a poor posture. Most people have bad posture habits whether when they are sleeping or during the day and they don’t even realize it, even an activity that we consider harmless as reading in bed without a posture pillow can, at some moment, lead to pain and more serious problems.

Pain at the base of the thumb may be due to arthritis at the joint between the wrist bone and the knuckle bone known as the carpometacarpal joint. Arthritis at this joint is very common. Arthritic pain of this joint at the base of the thumb is made worse when there is nerve related pain and spasm in the muscles that cross the carpometacarpal joint (joint between the thumb wrist bone and the thumb knuckle bone).

Cervical spine disorders account for thousands of visits to primary care physicians each year. Some require more serious solutions such as surgery, but others may easily be treated through exercise, and the use of physical therapy or other alternative therapy products.

Tips To Prevent Neck Pain:

Prevention is better than cure. The tips below may help a person to gain neck pain relief:

1. Do not bend the head forwards for a long time.

2. It is better to keep away from work that demands sitting for extended hours without change in posture.

3. Avoid drooping or hanging the upper back area to the waist.

4. Do enough stretching exercises that involve rotating the neck clockwise and anti-clockwise that offer neck pain relief for sure.

In case any person is suffering from constant neck pains and headaches they should always get a medical opinion for this and ascertain the reason for this. This sort of a symptom should not be neglected if it persists for some time and proper medical treatment should be started for the cause as soon as possible. If there is nausea along with he pain and a tingling feeling in the arms the doctor should be consulted immediately.

Neck pain is a very common problem among masses nowadays. Sixty out of hundred people are suffering from neck pain. A very painful and uncomfortable condition can upset your schedules and routines. Sometimes the pain starts from shoulder top and lasts until bottom of the head but many a times it also stresses upper back or arms making it a nightmare for many.

Neck pain can also be caused by doing overhead workouts or work involving the use of the upper body and arms like lifting weights or holding the head in a difficult, awkward, or frontward position for a long period of time, whilst performing activities like using the laptop, reading, clasping the telephone receiver, or playing video games. Catnapping in an upright position, falling asleep with the neck positioned awkwardly, an extremely flat or very high pillow, or using an upright fist or the arm as a head support frequently lead to neck pain.

What is Neck Pain? Our neck is subjected to stress, strain and minor injury on daily and ongoing basis. Over time this result in the degeneration of our cervical spine, causing neck pain. This occurs anywhere from the bottom of our head to the top of our shoulders and may radiate to our upper back and arms. This area basically supports all the load of our head. The pain restricts the movement of our head and neck. How quick our neck pain recovers and whether it will develop into chronic neck pain will depend on the overall condition of our cervical spine.Older people are more prone to neck pain and in most cases the condition will disappear. Others will need to consult the doctor and receive appropriate treatment.

Structure of the NeckOur neck consists of the cervical spine and the soft tissues that surround it. The soft tissues include nerves, ligaments, tendons, muscles and blood vessels. The cervical spine is located just below our skull and ends just above our thoracic spine. Our cervical spine is made up of the first seven vertebrae in the spine, C1 through C7.

Symptoms of Neck Pain

• Stiffness and reduced range of motion in your neck• Pain in your shoulders and arms• Inability to touch your chin to your chest• Headaches• Dizziness• Numbness, tingling, tenderness, sharp piercing pain• Difficulty in swallowing• Lights hurt your eyes• Weakness in your legs

In serious cases, symptoms include fever, vomiting, severe headache, and you should seek emergency treatment.

Sometimes neck pain is accompanied by upper back and/or lower back pain due to inflammation of the spine. Acute neck pain may force the head to turn to one side, a condition known as torticollis.

How to Diagnose Neck Pain

To understand what causes your neck pain, the doctor would normally check your medical history follow by a thorough physical examination. This will provide a good basis for the doctor to assess the reasons for your neck pain. However to be sure of what are the actual causes of your neck pain, one or more of several diagnostic tests may have to be conducted, including:

• X-rays• MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)• CAT Scan (Computer Assisted Tomography)• Myelography (a special x-ray sensitive contrast dye is injected to illuminate the spine, allowing identification of problems within the spine)• Electromyogram (EMG)• Bone Scan• Laboratory tests

Causes of Neck Pain

There are many causes of neck pain including daily activities requiring repeated use of the neck, injuries and diseases.Neck pain caused by activities resulting in strained muscles, sprained ligament or inflammation of joints:

• Improper sleeping posture including on a pillow that doesn’t support your head or on your stomach with neck twisted.• Maintaining a prolonged awkward working your computer, painting the ceiling or installing a light bulb• Tilting your head in a fixed position like talking on the phone or reading a book in bed• Laying on your sofa watching TV for hours• Carrying heavy loads on your shoulders or with hands• Hunching your upper body during long distance driving

Neck pain caused by injuries

Our neck is very vulnerable to injury because it is so flexible and bears the whole weight of our head. Injuries include:

• Whiplash when the head is jerked forward and then backward in a car accident• Falling or tripping• Injuries related to sporting activities, especially those involving head and upper body• Knocks and blows to the face or head

Neck pain caused by medical conditions including:

• Rheumatoid arthritis (inflammation of the joints and surrounding tissues)• Cervical spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal)• Meningitis (swelling of the brain lining and spinal cord)• Cancer (tumours in the spine)• Fibromyalgia (long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues)• Ruptured disk• Minor fractures to the spine from osteoporosis• Spondylosis (degenerative disorder of the spine)• Flu

When to Seek Treatment

Treatment and Prevention of Neck PainTreatment for neck pain generally falls into two main categories: conservative treatment (non-surgical) and surgical treatment. The objectives of the treatments are to relieve the pain and reduce the risk of injury again.

Non-Surgical Treatment for Your Neck Pain

Medications

• Muscle relaxants, tramadol (Ultram) or tricyclic antidepressant medications used for pain• Opioid analgesics • Injection of corticosteroid or numbing medications (lidocaine) into the muscles in your neck

Some medications are very addictive. Take them exactly as prescribed and see your doctor if you feel unwell or have other side effects.

Physical TherapyYour physiotherapist can design an exercise program to help you recover from your neck pain and also teach you ways to prevent further injury to your neck.

Cervical Pillow

A cervical pillow provides good support to your head and neck which helps to reduce stress to your spine.

Cervical Collar

A cervical collar provides support to your injured neck and limit motion while it is healing. It also helps keep your body in the normal alignment.

Epidural Steroid Injection (ESI)

This is normally used only when other non-surgical treatments fail to relieve your neck pain. In this process a small amount of cortisone, a strong anti-inflammatory medicine, is injected into the bony spinal canal.

Complementary and alternative treatments

Some of these treatments are helpful in relieving pain, restore neck mobility and improve quality of life.

• Massage• Chiropractic and osteopathic treatments• Yoga helps improve flexibility, posture and breathing, decrease stress, and maintain health• Acupuncture• Heat or ice treatment• Take warm showers

Surgical Treatment

Surgery is normally the last option and your doctor will recommend what works best for you.

DiscectomyThis procedure relieves the pressure on a nerve root by removing the herniated disc causing the pressure.

Cervical Fusion

This procedure joins selected bones in the neck with bones taken from other parts of your body. The bone graft between two or more vertebrae allows them to fuse and grow together.

Posterior Fusion

In this case the bone graft is placed on the back side of the vertebrae. This allows the vertebrae to grow together, creating a solid piece of bone out of the two vertebrae. This procedure is generally used only for fractures of the spine.

Instrumented Cervical Fusion

To improve fusion, metal plates, screws, and rods that hold the spine in place are introduced. As the bones are tightly held and there is less motion, it will help the healing process.

Laminectomy

This is a spine operation to remove the portion of the vertebral bone called the lamina. This procedure reduces the pressure on the spinal cord and the irritation and inflammation of the spinal nerves.

Corpectomy and Strut Graft

This is a procedure that involves removing part of the vertebral body as a way to decompress the spinal cord and nerves.

Surgeries associated with the spine are normally risky and may lead to complications. You should discuss with your medical professionals on the various options and consequences before deciding on which is the best option.

Surgery is normally the last option and your doctor will recommend what works best for you.

Prevention of neck pain

Neck pain causes can be reduced by adopting good and new habits.

Refrain from spending a lot of time in positions that stress and strain your neck. Among others things, these include sitting at a computer for extended periods.Take short breaks in between work several times a day. Sleep on a firm pillow with good support for your neck. Do not sleep on your stomach in an awkward position. If you really have to read a book in bed make you keep your neck in a neutral position. Stop smoking because it decreases blood supply and slow down tissue repair and healing.Develop a habit of exercising regularly as it is good for the long term health of your body. Best of all, unlike medication and surgery, it is virtually free.

Because the neck is located between the mind and the body, it tends to register conflicts between them, resulting in neck pain or tension. Neck tension tends to accumulate when the needs of either the body or the mind are neglected, creating an energy imbalance.

For instance, your body may be tired and needs to relax, but your mind may think that you should work. This type of mind-body conflict commonly yields neck tension, so do others such as excessive concentration on material and intellectual pursuits at the expense of the spiritual and emotional dimensions of our lives.

Whenever the neck is strained, it has difficulty properly supporting the head, which weighs about ten to fifteen pounds. Emotional stress and strain create an additional burden on the back muscles and create even more tension. Because many people do not know how to relieve this tension, it builds and can become chronic. Neck tension, pain, stiffness, and even pinch nerves in the neck are all too common.

The neck is also a barometer for self expression and change. It is the center from which we vocally express our feelings, thoughts, hopes and plans. One way to prevent neck tension is to express yourself appropriately and try to maintain a harmonious balance within yourself. Unfortunately, we are constantly being challenged to make changes in relation to the dynamics and transitions of life, so we probably will always have some neck tension!

However there are ways to relief the pain you have in your neck and with your hands you can potentially improve your health and increase your vitality. Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to stimulate key points on the skin that, in turn, activate the body’s natural self-healing processes.

The following are some potent points for relieving Neck Tension and Pain. The technique is to use firm pressure by using your thumbs, fingers, palms, the side of the hand, or knuckles to apply steady, stationary pressure on the acupressure locations and the good news is that you can administer it yourself or with the help of a partner!

Location 1: On the highest point of the shoulder, one to two inches out from the base of the neck on the tightest spot.Benefits: Relieves stiff neck, irritability, shoulder tension, and poor circulation.

Location 2: In the indentation at the base of the skull, one to two inches in the back of the earlobe, depending on the size of the head.Benefits: Relieves stiff necks, shoulder and neck pain, and headaches.

Location 3: Below the base of the skull, in the hollows that lie approximately two or three inches apart, depending on the size of the head.Benefits: Relieves stiff neck, neck pain, arthritis in the neck, and headaches.

Acupressure’s potent power can heal us both physically and spiritually. The healing benefits of acupressure involves bothrelaxation of the body and its positive effects on the mind. As tension is released, you not only feel good physically, but you also feel better emotionally and mentally.

It is a tremendous blessing to be able to help yourself and others with simply using your hands, at any time, wherever you are.I hope this article is able to lead you to a new dimension of well-being – not only to be able to work actively to improve your health, but to expand your awareness of your own healing energy and potent life spirit.

Millions of people suffer from minor to chronic neck pain, and it can really be a sore spot for many. There are some root causes, and many treatment options available to the general public. These treatments range from over the counter analgesics to neck surgery if there is a severe enough injury. This sort of discomfort is common, but is easily treated, so there’s no reason to live in pain.

There are several causes to neck pain, most commonly revolving around trauma or injury, worry and stress, falling asleep in an awkward position, or prolonged use of a computer keyboard. There are quite a lot of theories that rotate around the medical community as to other causes of neck pain, but the most common root causes are easily found without professional advice. Most injuries are quite apparent, while sleeping in an odd position will cause a person to feel pain the morning after. Those working in offices will find that the pain in their neck will reduce in time, if they start to take breaks more often, and sit at an appropriate angle to their desk.

Not all neck pain is caused by the most common factors. Some more severe pain can be caused by meningitis. The symptoms that follow need to be considered and medical help should be received to design a treatment option. Besides pain in the neck area, a rash develops that doesn’t fade when you press it, alongside feeling sick or running a fever. It can also be detected if the light hurts the eye, headaches, prolonged vomiting or swelling of the back occur. In some cases the pain can be caused by disc trouble, but these are warning signs of meningitis induced pain in the neck area.

To avoid prolonged neck pain, you could do several things. First and foremost, the best way to avoid this type of pain is to say as active as possible. Keep working your normal routine, but make sure you’re exercising with stretching and proper motions. It is best to also stretch and move the neck area to promote neck muscle strength alongside your everyday routine of working out. Correct posture while at a desk will also help, and consistent short breaks from the action is a major plus in regards to easing the pain.

In regards to treatment options, you have several over the counter analgesics you can use to ease the pain. If the pain is a chronic, prolonged thing, you should consider going to see a physician as a more serious problem could be afoot. More severe cases could be treated by a chiropractor, as they specialize in non-surgical pain relief of sore necks, back pain and other things. It is important to consider treatment that might not have too many risks involved, if your pain is not associated with meningitis or injury. If a severe injury is in place, surgical procedures can assist you in your road to relieving the pressure and pain in the neck area.
