Many people suffer from headaches sometime during their lifetime. They can be caused by sickness, illness, stress, or injury. And to treat the pain, people are constantly searching for headache cures. One such treatment is the homeopathic headache remedy. Homeopathic medicine treats the body naturally and wholly and tries to help the body heal itself from the inside out. Some common remedies to treat headaches are listed below. Some people have found great relief with these solutions. You may have to try several to find the one that works for you.

Everyone has heard how it’s beneficial to apply ice when you’ve injured your knee or your elbow, and the same can be true of the pain you experience when you feel a migraine approaching. Applying an ice pack right to the spot on your scalp where you feel the pain starting from is a good idea. You want to be certain to wrap the ice in a towel so you don’t irritate your scalp.

You can hold this to your head for ten or fifteen minutes at a time and you can repeat the process whenever you feel the need to. It’s one of the natural cures that is incredibly inexpensive and beneficial too.

Butalbital is a member of the barbiturate class of drugs. It is a sedative that is used in Fioricet as a muscle-relaxer; the purpose of butalbital is to relieve the muscle tension associated with tension headaches. Since barbiturates can be habit-forming, care must be taken when using Fioricet to avoid dependency on the drug. Fioricet should only be taken as prescribed by the doctor, and patients should never exceed the recommended dose or use Fioricet more often than prescribed, even if the current dose is proving ineffective (diminished effectiveness may be a sign of tolerance and/or growing drug dependency?addiction). Patients with a history of drug-dependency may not be given Fioricet.

Natural remedies for Headache:

Rebound headache ,which are also known as analgesic-abuse headaches, are a subtype of primary headache caused by overuse of headache drugs. Cluster headaches are a rare but important type of primary headache, affecting mainly men. Cluster headaches occur daily over a period of weeks, sometimes months. Cluster headaches primarily affect men between the ages of 20 and 40. Traction and inflammatory headaches are symptoms of other disorders, ranging from stroke to sinus infection. Cluster headaches may last between five minutes and three hours; they may occur once every other day or as often as eight times per day.

The IHS classifies cluster headaches as either episodic or chronic. Episodic cluster headaches occur over periods lasting from seven days to one year, with the clusters separated by headache-free intervals of at least two weeks. The average length of a cluster ranges between two weeks and three months. Cluster headaches have diverse causes, ranging from serious and life threatening conditions such as brain tumors, strokes, meningitis, and subarachnoid hemorrhages to less serious but common conditions such as withdrawal from caffeine and discontinuation of analgesicsChronic cluster headaches occur over a period longer than a year without a headache-free interval, or with pain-free intervals that are shorter than two weeks.

Arnica – Arnica is a wildflower plant that grows in the mountains in rich, loamy soil. The flowers of the plant are collected and dried and used to treat sprains, strains, and pain. The plant is mixed with salves and oils and applied directly to the skin in the affected area. Alternatively, it can be made into a homeopathic medicine that is taken internally. For headaches, arnica can be applied to the base of the skull and back of the neck for tension headaches, or to the forehead and frontal lobes for head pain in that area.

Cyclamen – Is used to treat migraines associated with dizziness, blurred or dimmed vision, or eye spasm. Cyclamen grows natively in the Mediterranean region but is often cultivated as a house plant. Cyclamen is also used to regulate the menstrual cycle and to treat violent headaches with flickering before the eyes. It is also good for burning pain in the skin and muscles. It is a strong herb so care must be taken with dosing. Large doses produce violent purging and vomiting.

Ignatia Amara – This remedy is from a small tree that produces a bean pod. These are harvested to make the remedy. It is especially good for treating stress headaches as it works as a tranquilizer and helps to calm stress.

I’ve had a severe migraine accompanied with vomiting and shoulder/neck pain…?

Last night around 9 PM, I started getting a headache. Over the next few hours, it started getting worse. I couldn’t sleep all night, and at about 4 in the morning, it was at its worst. I ended up going to the bathroom because I was feeling sick to my stomach. I threw up a lot – twice. My neck and shoulders hurt really bad, but the headache and sick feeling overpowered it. After I threw up, I was pretty exhausted, and ended up falling asleep after a while. Throughout the night I had taken some Tylenol PM and later, just an off brand extra strength pain relief. Today I still have a pretty bad headache, not as bad as last night, but my shoulders and neck hurt really bad. I don’t feel very sick, but I’m afraid to eat because I don’t want to throw up again. Anyway, I can’t get into the doctor for another hour and half, does anyone know anything I can do to help with the pain until my appointment??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
All of the questios are very helpful so far – I don’t think I’ll be able to pick a best answer. Anyway, I went to the doctor and she said it’s probably just from tension and that’s why I have the neck and shoulder pain. However, she’s just a doctor at our school who seems to shrug off a lot of things. The person who answered that it might be meningitis…is it really possible? Should I go to another doctor and bring that up to them? I read somewhere that meningitis is also accompanied with a rash. A couple weeks ago, I went to the doctor about a rash type thing that I keep getting on my legs and arms, but she said it was eczema. Could these symptoms be connected? I just want to be sure because meningitis is very deadly isn’t it? Before I came to college about 1.5 years ago, I got the shot…so I’d think that I’d be safe, right? Anymore advice on this subject would be helpful.

It sounds like menegitis, you should go to your doctor/Er right away, this is serious…good luck!

Neck, upper back, arm, wrist pain, headaches and a tingling scalp! Ouch!

David from the land down under came in today to our San Mateo / Foster office in horrible discomfort all over his body the last few days. He complained of a tingling scalp and migraine headache. David also complained of pain in his mid back, neck, both arms and wrists. He is a new and happier man after he was adjusted this morning at Colgin Chiropractic.

How do I get rid of this neck pain and headache?

For the past few days I have been suffering from upper neck pains on the right side and this annoying headache. I first thought it was to do with “the monthly thing” but those headaches usually go away with sleep. This one wont. Then i thought it could be my pillow so i switched it and last night it was fine. But tonight the pain is back. Its driving me insane! Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of both the neck pain and the headache and fast???? It hurts!!!

It sounds like it could be a bad tension headache…I get really bad migraines (last a week or better) and my saving grace is excedrine migraine. I know they make one for tension headaches; you might try that. PS I weigh 140ish and i can only handle like 1 pill at a time.
